At the heart of what is called ‘culture’ is the spirit of transformation: of the individual and the human family and the times: not only by exposing what is dying away, and the injustices of its old ways of being, but by envisioning the new, by giving it expression and form. Now in a time when the whole of society is about that work, the artist, poet, musician and all other cultural workers express this in ways that go straight to the heart, leaping over all divisions. Many are finding themselves taking up art in this spirit, inspired by each other and by these transformative times. ‘Without vision, the people perish.’ With it everything is possible, and necessary.
